DOWNPASS Standard 2016

We, the DOWNPASS 3016-audited companies, stand for ethically sourced down and feathers.

We produce duvets, pillows and garments filled with down and feathers, as well as components for the production of these articles and other finished products. As a partner to the bed, fashion and outdoor industries, our common goal is a globally traceable supply chain.

The standard valid since 2016 stands for the exclusion of feathers and down from live animals, material from foie gras production as well as rearing control. This is modular, but can also be combined. You will find all the details in the DOWNPASS Standard 2016, which we offer you here for download as well as the Implementation Regulations.

The goal of the DOWNPASS standard is to contribute to the ethical sourcing of down and feathers, and to help companies to firmly anchor and further develop the aspects of animal welfare during the sourcing of feathers and down in everyday business by reviewing suppliers in the industry supply chain.

The DOWNPASS 2016 standard is an instrument for representing the different requirements of our customers to an ethical sourcing of down and feathers, while also taking into account the small-scale structure of sourcing.

Down and feathers as by-products of poultry production are only available when geese and ducks are consumed. The supply chain of every company in the bed-feather and bedding industry is international and individual. The standard also represents the way to the large breeding areas as well as to small farms and collectors. Down and feathers according to their origin and their way of winning and to implement the aspects of animal welfare is a big task.
